Exciting Updates Coming to Your Orlando Public Library
Have you heard? Your Orlando Public Library is getting a new look! This August, we kicked off construction for the renovation of the first floor of the Orlando Public Library – its first upgrade in more than 20 years.
Orlando Public Library welcomes about 1,300 visitors per day, and nearly 400 of those guests visit the Children’s Library.
This project is phased to allow the current Children’s Library to remain open during construction, ensuring uninterrupted service for families, while expanding for much-needed space and additional amenities.
Enlarging the space to approximately 20,000 square feet, the new Children’s Library will feature programming rooms, reading areas, a Florida wetlands-themed play area, dedicated sensory and lactation rooms, and more.
It will be a place where families can spend time in a space designed specifically for their needs.
Since adults may not use the space on their own without a child, the renovation will include a new monitored entrance that helps direct visitors and reinforces the area’s family-focused purpose.
The first-floor renovations will also bring enhanced lighting on the exterior overhang and surrounding sidewalks, creating a more welcoming entrance.
Two digital signboards on the face of the building will showcase a variety of library offerings, and inside, the updated lobby will feature directional wayfinding lighting to make navigating a breeze. A family restroom with a universal changing table will increase downtown accessibility.
This investment in a new Children’s Library and enhanced first-floor amenities is more than just an investment in a building.
