Which Schools Are Closed? Hurricane Related School Closures Orlando Area
Parents are naturally concerned about safety as Hurricane Milton approaches the Orlando area. Several school districts and colleges in Orlando have announced closures. Here is the latest information on school closures, helping you stay informed and prepared during this challenging time.

Orange County Public Schools: Closed
Orange County Public Schools All schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024 through Friday, October 11, 2024.
All Orange County Public Libraries are closed on Wednesday & Thursday.
Seminole County Public Schools: Closed
Seminole County Public Schools all schools will follow a regular early dismissal schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, and all field trips, afterschool activities, events, facility rentals, and childcare services including KidZone & Beyond and 21st Century Learning programs will be canceled.
All Seminole County public schools will be closed Wednesday – Friday, October 9 – 11, 2024.
All Seminole County Public Libraries are closed Tuesday – Thursday.
Lake County Schools: Closed
Lake County Lake County schools will be open on Tuesday (10/8) and closed on Wednesday (10/9) and Thursday (10/10) in anticipation of Hurricane Milton.
Osceola County – Closed:
Osceola Schools closed on Wednesday, October 9 — All SDOC schools and school district operations will be closed. Employees will not report to work unless deemed essential by the supervisor (i.e. Maintenance Department).
The district will continue to closely monitor the impacts of the storm with Osceola County Emergency Management before making any decisions about school for Thursday and Friday of this week to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Local Colleges and Universities:
Several colleges in the Orlando area have also taken steps to ensure the safety of their students, faculty, and staff.
University of Central Florida: Closed
UCF will suspend all classes on Tuesday, October 8 – Friday, October 11.
Lake-Sumter State College: Closed
Due to Hurricane Milton, Lake-Sumter State College will close all campus locations and cancel all classes and activities beginning at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8 and remain closed on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.
Any classes scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm or later on Tuesday, October 8 are canceled.

Valencia College: Closed
Valencia College has announced closure on Tuesday, Oct. 8 through Thursday, Oct. 10,
Seminole State College of Florida: Closed
Classes and operations are announced – all classes (including online) and College operations at Seminole State are canceled from noon Tuesday, Oct. 8, through Friday, Oct. 11. We plan to reopen and resume operations at 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
Nova Southeastern University (Orlando Regional Campus):
Tampa Bay and Orlando regional campuses will close at 5PM on Monday, October 7 and will stay closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
