Spooky Season and Fun Halloween Events in Orlando For Families (Besides Trick or Treating)

Spooky season is tons of fun here in Orlando, especially for families. But what if you’re sick of Halloween candy at every turn, or you want to limit the trick-or-treating a little bit? Thankfully, there are many Halloween events in Orlando for families that don’t involve trick-or-treating and candy.

Of course, there are many fall festivals and festive pumpkin patches too. But for this list, we’ve pulled together spooky fun with friendly ghosts and Halloween themes that are great for kids of all ages.

Halloween events in Orlando for families

Pirates of the Haunted Seas

Select dates September 19 – November 2, 2025, opens at 10:00 a.m.
SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, Orlando, Florida

Join Captain Sebastian on a spooky (but kid-friendly) treasure hunt through SEA LIFE’s aquarium! Explore interactive stations using a treasure map to learn about sea animals. Earn stamps along the way, then collect them all to become an honorary Captain of Conservation – with a small treat bag.

There are cute, yet spooky decorations throughout the aquarium, but nothing that is scary or frightening. Take your time and explore all the areas. There is no time limit, most families spend about 45 minutes to an hour.

Captain Sebastian appears on Saturdays & Sundays at select times:

  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Vampirates: The Haunting Search for Neptune’s Treasure

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve opens its gates for the first-ever on-site Halloween event. Enjoy shopping with vendors, seasonal food and beverages, mini tours of the compound, photo opportunities, and limited animal interactions. Tours run from 3:30–5:30 p.m. and can be reserved in advance online. Proceeds support the care of the animals at the reserve.

Coco – Kids’ Halloween Movie at The Enzian

Turns out there is trick-or-treating in this event, but it’s fun for all ages at Enzian’s family-friendly Halloween celebration! Put on your costumes and join a costume parade, crafts, and Frankenweenie! Kids can decorate their spooktacular candy bag and enjoy some trick-or-treating outside after the movie.

  • Event Start: 11:00am, Film Begins: 12:00pm
  • Trick-or-Treating Ends: 1:45pm

Tickets are only $12.50 for adults and $13.50 for kids. Kids tickets include a candy bag kit, admission to the film, and a Halloween Squishmallow!

Maitland Fall-O-Ween

The City of Maitland hosts a fantastic Falloween festival, combining seasonal fun with Halloween festivities. Activities include a kid’s costume contest, carnival games, candy, train rides, and more.
There is candy and costumes at this event, but plenty of other Halloween fun besides the sweets.

Obviously, this house is a favorite for Christmas lights, but they also go all out for Halloween! It is a bit of a drive from Orlando, but if you’re into a Halloween adventure, it’s worth it!

Bonus Idea: Leu Gardens Dragons: Hidden Treasure Quest

While this isn’t an official Halloween event, it can be fun this time of year! Included with standard admission, embark on a mythical adventure through 50 acres of enchanting botanical gardens. In DRAGONS: Hidden Treasure Quest, each guest becomes a brave “seeker,” equipped with a special map filled with clues and legendary lore. Follow the trail, solve the riddles, and uncover ancient artifacts as you search for the hidden treasure.
