Explore Wirz Park in Casselberry – Pool, Playgrounds, and More

| |

It’s been an awesome summer for Orlando area parents who live near Casselberry. First, Wheel Park East and West are both open. And now the much-anticipated Wirz Park pool is back and better than ever!

Wirz Park in Casselberry offers a refreshing mix of outdoor play and neighborhood charm. And it is all completely revamped and brand new! I grew up here, visiting Wirz Park as a child, and now it has been revitalized, making me feel grateful to have the chance to create memories here with my son.

You and your kids, even tiny tikes, can cool off in the pool, run between two playgrounds, or play some volleyball. Located in a Casselberry neighborhood where you can cruise along the Casselberry Greenway on your bikes or for a quick jog. This park delivers an easy family day out.

Pool Time with a Calm Vibe

The pool at Wirz Park is simple but lovely. There’s a zero-entry area with low fountains and a few splash features, creating a soft, soothing ambiance. This shallow area is ideal for young ones to learn to swim, (life jackets are available), and quickly became a favorite spot of mine when I wanted a break from active swimming.

Separated from the zero-entry shallow area by a traditional pool rope is the larger part of the pool. Most of the pool is about five feet deep, with one spot that dips to six feet. During our visit, we appreciated the tranquil water sounds and clean surroundings.

  • Lifeguard stations are staffed during open hours
  • Admission is collected at a kiosk just outside the gate
  • Visitors receive wristbands marked with the date and group size
  • No food or drinks are allowed on the pool deck or in the pool area

Seating is limited, with a mix of lounge chairs and upright chairs. A fair number of umbrellas provide shade, but not every seat is covered. Near the pool area, outside of the pool’s fence, are two shaded pavilions, each with three picnic tables—perfect for snack breaks after swim time.

What to Know About Pool Closures

As is often the case in Florida, weather can cut a pool day short. On our visit, the pool closed at 1 p.m. due to lightning in the area. After resting at home, we returned at 3 p.m., but it closed again just 40 minutes later. With thunder rolling through around 4:15 p.m., the staff made the call not to reopen. According to posted rules, the area must be clear of lightning for 30 minutes before reopening.

Tip: Check the forecast and bring backup plans—especially during summer storm season.

Playground and Park Features

Wirz Park has two playgrounds labeled for ages 2–12. One is slightly smaller, but both include swings, slides, and rubber surfacing. There’s light shade from trees nearby and restrooms just outside the pool gates, conveniently accessible from both play areas.

You’ll also find:

  • A basketball court and volleyball court near the back side of the park
  • Outdoor exercise equipment is located well away from the playgrounds: a nice design choice for parents whose kids love to turn fitness stations into a jungle gym
  • Easy access to the Casselberry Greenway Trail, visible right from the pool area
