JCPenney Kids Zone Crafts and Other Mall Fun This Summer

This summer beat the heat at the greatest place on Earth. That’s right, Let’s Go To the Mall! Is anyone else channeling the “How I Met Your Mother” Robin Scherbatsky vibes on this one? Well, the mall has been and always will be one of the greatest places to take the family on a hot summer day, and for so many reasons! A good mall can fill an entire day of activities from shopping to dining, and more.

With obvious draws like Auntie Annie’s delicious cinnamon pretzel nuggets or mega toy emporiums, we have also discovered a little known treat for parents and kids alike – kids zones!

For Mother’s Day we spotted several awesome outposts for crafting and creativity at stores like Old Navy, Macy’s and JCPenney. Here’s what we learned, and what you can expect for the rest of the summer season and beyond.

Best of all, these fun craft activities are free!

JCPenney Kids Zone

Second Saturday of Every Month

Enjoy a free craft activity table, perfect for keeping kids busy (maybe with Dad?) while mom shops. We visited for Mother’s Day weekend and they got to make trinket boxes and cards!

Be sure to learn more about this program and to confirm upcoming dates.

What Else Is in Store?

In addition to crafting fun, kids get a lanyard with an ID badge, with a special collector’s pin for each activity completed. We have already completed the owl dreamcatcher and the Mother’s day craft, so we’re 2 out of 6 pins deep in our collection!

Every month earn another pin, and after completing six crafts your child gets the “Master Medallion”. What a neat way to get the kids excited for mall outings!

Plus, one of the best parts – Mom and Dad get an extra-savings coupon for your kid’s participation! That’s right – 10% off to use in the store that day, and it CAN be combined with other JCP coupons. Win!

Other Fun Mall Events:

Pop Up Art Activities at Macy’s

A more informal event for Mother’s Day weekend, Macy’s set up a table near the Kids Toys section with construction paper, stickers and giant crayons for designing a card for Mom. Keep your eyes peeled for similar events throughout the summer!

Old Navy’s Super Safety Event

Early May, Annually

An annual affair, the local fire safety crews come out for scavenger hunts, games, crafts and then some! This year we saw some added coloring opportunities for Mother’s Day. I wonder what else they have in store? Stop into your local mall Old Navy to find out!

Family Perks at the Florida Mall

Did you know there’s a huge list of perks for families at the Florida Mall

Go shopping on your birthday for:

  • A FREE pretzel at Auntie Annie’s
  • Build-a-Bear birthday bear offer (just pay your age!)
  • Get in FREE to the Crayola Experience on your birthday!

Don’t forget to look for play areas, fun zones and other great spots for kids around the mall. We especially love the great kids activities over at the Florida Mall, so spend some time with your little ones there this summer and experience an outing that’s fun for everyone.
