Ramp up healthy practices beforehand

With so much fun inside Walt Disney World® Resort, your family will be immersed in the magic of it all. So before you head out on summer vacation, take some time to remind everyone about the importance of washing your hands, and doing so properly.

It’s also a good idea to talk about covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. And remind everyone to listen to their bodies when they’re tired and need a break, or need hydration.

Keep reading for tips about places to take breaks and how to stay hydrated.

Pack health and wellness essentials and comfort items

This next step is for everyone in the family. Bringing something familiar from home like a few favorite toys, books, and comfort items will help your kids feel comfortable.  Parents should remember to bring medication and a copy of medical history for the whole family.

And if you have any medical equipment needs AdventHealth can help.

Take breaks and get good rest

It can be easy to book yourself solid and plan every minute of your vacation. To keep your health and happiness a priority, be sure to have some unscheduled time. And, take breaks throughout each day, including lots of sleep each night.

There are plenty of rest areas throughout each Walt Disney World theme park and water park. Take some time to sit, rest your feet, and regroup.

Disney Springs offers lots of benches and places in the shade. The Disney Springs Welcome Center is a helpful resource and a place for a quick break.

My family loves sitting by the water for a break. At Magic Kingdom, there are benches near Cinderella Castle overlooking the water that surrounds this park icon. At EPCOT there are countless benches all around the World Showcase lagoon.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Echo Lake is a sparkling spot with shade and benches. And Discovery River flows through Disney’s Animal Kingdom with many tranquil places to rest.

If you’re staying nearby, a mid-day swim or rest back in the hotel room will recharge everyone in the family.

Stay cool / hydrated

Each Walt Disney World theme park has a collection of indoor shows and experiences. Indoor shows are a great place to go in the middle of the day for some shade and air conditioning, plus great entertainment.

Splash areas at Magic Kingdom theme park and EPCOT are fun ways to cool off. And water bottle refill stations are available at each Walt Disney World theme park. Plus, there are countless places to purchase bottled water if needed.

First Aid Stations presented by AdventHealth can also help if anyone needs basic medical attention, including from the heat. Disney registered nurses are available during normal park operating hours to offer over-the-counter medications, bandages, and other quick remedies.
