Why an Art Studio Birthday Party is Perfect for Your Creative Kid
For my son’s 8th birthday, we brainstormed some ideas for a fun and unique birthday party venue. I didn’t want to deal with the stress of hosting it at my house but wanted to find something more affordable and memorable than a trampoline park.
Clayton is my artsy kid – his favorite classes are art and music. I started researching party venues for 8 year olds – ones that could be a good fit for his personality and interests.

I stumbled upon Palette Art Studio in the Tuskawilla area of Winter Springs. The website mentioned painting and/or pottery birthday parties, so I reached out to inquire more.
The owner and director, Chrissie Grace, was so helpful in answering all of my questions and met me in advance to tour the studio and see the layout. A local to Winter Springs, Chrissie has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in art education and has been teaching for 20 years.

What does the party package include?
There are a few options for parties: pre-school, canvas painting, or pottery painting – each starting at $300.
The canvas party package was just what we were looking for and fell within our budget. Parties run for about 2 hours and can start as early as 10am or end as late as 7pm. Parties are available Saturday and Sunday.
Time slots are 10 am-12 pm, 1-3 pm, or 2-4 pm. and 5-7 pm.
The birthday party package includes supplies for 12 artists, but there’s space for up to 18 for an additional fee per head. There are 2 side tables for you to set up anything you are responsible for bringing – snacks, cake, pizza, drinks, plates, silverware, etc.
Palette will let your child pick the music playlist for the class, and as the guests arrive, each will be given a smock to protect their clothes.
What is the art project during the party?
The guest of honor will get to pick the theme for the artwork and the instructor will guide them through drawing and painting with acrylic paint on an 11”x14” canvas that each kid can take home.
Clayton decided to have his friends paint themselves as astronauts in space, allowing them to add their own flair and creativity to the final piece.
During the class, we took 2 breaks to allow for drying before the next step. This gave us just the right amount of time to do presents and cupcakes. At the end, the kids posed for a group picture with their artwork, which dried just in time to take home.
What age is this type of party good for?
I asked Chrissie this very question during Clayton’s party and she said the birthday parties are most popular for kids between the ages of 6 and 12.
They do offer a pre-school party option for kids ages 2-5. These parties include a Themed Sensory Bin, Themed Painting Station, Themed Play-Dough Station, Crown or Wand Station, and a Large Customized Mural to Color.
Is there space for parents and/or siblings to stay?
One of the best parts about this party is that parents can sit and relax while the class is going on.
For any parents who need to bring younger siblings, there’s a play corner with crayons and paper, 3D puzzles, a dollhouse, and more.
What was most surprising to me about the party was how quiet it was! The kids were so focused. What a difference from hosting at other loud and overstimulating venues! So many of the other parents commented on how unique and fun the party idea was. I would definitely recommend this studio for your celebration if you’ve got an artistic child.
What else does Palette offer?
We had such a great experience at Palette, so we’ll definitely be back for other activities. Palette also offers weekly themed summer camps, mommy and me classes, paint-your-own pottery sessions, after-school and homeschool classes, and packages for private parties.
