Great Wolf Lodge recently opened (in mid-November 2024), marking its first location in our Sunshine State. Fun Family Vacation in Florida at Great Wolf Lodge

At the heart of Great Wolf Lodge is a wowzer water park, a signature INDOOR feature of the hotel brand. Since afternoon showers are a thing in Florida, I love that the waterpark is an indoor amenity! Plus, because it’s within a climate-controlled environment, Orlando families can venture south to Great Wolf Lodge any time of the year… spring break, winter break, summer break or a random long weekend.

Spanning over 100,000 square feet, this impressive splish-splashy space boasts water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers and splash zones, ensuring fun for kiddos of all ages. There is also a gentle play area for little ones.

When you’re ready to get the kiddos out of their wet bathing suits, know that Great Wolf Lodge has plenty more to do onsite. A big draw is MagiQuest, which is a unique, interactive scavenger hunt adventure. Additionally, family memories can be made via gaming in the arcade, striking out via mini bowling, climbing the ropes course, trying virtual reality, getting a hole in one during a mini-golf round and hunting for gems in the mining station. And if your littles want to make the perfect vacay keepsake, there’s a Build-A-Bear shop.

You really don’t even need to leave the resort if you don’t want to because there’s dining options abound with, of course, family-friendly menus at multiple on-site restaurants, including poolside eateries as well as upscale options for adults. As a mom of a food allergy kiddo, I totally appreciated that Great Wolf Lodge chooses not to use or serve peanut-based products in the resort’s branded restaurants and that the kitchens have an allergen-free prep areas.

Sweet Suites

The lodge offers themed suites that are both spacious and imaginative for families. Kids can enjoy their own adorable bunk-bed “dens,” decorated with wolf-themed murals. Parents can then slumber in a cozy queen- or king-sized bed.

These suites include all the expected modern amenities and more. If preferred, standard rooms are available.

Last Minute Holiday Getaway?

If you’re still looking for things to do while the kids are on winter break from school, the timing of this resort opening may be a sign that you should book a family vacation in Florida! Great Wolf Lodge is promoting “Snowland,” a winter-themed celebration with Santa Claus visits and festive activities.

FYI, in an attempt to attract Florida families, like yours, Great Wolf Lodge is offering surprisingly good deals on booking. Check out the options online.

Orlando Parenting would like to offer kudos to this company for supporting the Make-A-Wish, a nonprofit serving children with critical illnesses. At the resort’s grand opening event, All-Pro NFL tight-end and current FOX NFL Sunday contributor, Rob Gronkowski, joined Great Wolf Resorts CEO, John Murphy, to champion a water slide fundraising challenge to benefit the charity. Gronkowski and some of Make-A-Wish’s kids tested the water park slides and helped raise $60,000 for the organization!
