“Bash & Brew” – One of the BEST Kid-Friendly Coffee Shops in Orlando

Coffee shops with indoor playgrounds are a must have in any family-friendly city. Having recently visited and reviewed the kid-centric coffee spot “Oh Hey Cafe” on Lee Road, I felt like Orlando had previously been lacking cool spots for parents to hang with their kids in a cafe setting. And now that our team at Orlando Parenting has researched the best kid-friendly coffee shops in Orlando, it’s easy to find your favorite.

Vietnamese duo Tumi Duong and Kha Tran opened up an amped up spot on Colonial Drive that is exactly what the neighborhood has needed for a while. Offering an adorably colorful and playful kid’s zone and homemade Vietnamese sweets, this place is a slam dunk for the Milk District area.

You’ll find them just past Einstein’s in the Plato’s Closet Plaza, easily accessible to the shopping areas in what I call the “Bumby Plaza” and the seen-better-days Fashion Square Mall. For me, I’m always up for a good sit down after a hard day hitting the stores, so this place was a no-brainer to visit with my daughter when I heard about it.

Here’s a few of their offerings that you can expect:

  • Longer hours – you can bring your kids here anytime up to 7pm!
  • A play area with bouncy unicorns, pretend grocery shopping, little clubhouses, and play structures. There’s even a mini ball pit at the end of the outdoor sized slide, and LEGO areas too.
  • Coffee counter with traditional coffee and Vietnamese iced coffee, milk teas, fruit teas and interesting Asian-influenced flavors
  • Sweets from Duong’s mother, made with love! You can even grab larger cakes to take home for celebrations.
  • Inviting and charming interior spaces – not cold or austere
  • There is also a bounce house room – separate from the tinkering room
  • Kids snacks like applesauce, Goldfish and other toddler-friendly goodies are available for (for purchase) snacking too!

Bash and Brew is also an event space perfect for hosting little kid’s birthday parties! Inquire within for parties suitable for the toddler set. They even offer packages where they take care of the decorating – I call that a win!

Another great touch is that they have a little storefront area selling local goods – gotta love supporting local businesses!

If You Go

Located at 2900 E. Colonial Drive, they are open 9am to 7pm every day except Sunday, which is open til 5. They are closed on Mondays.

Bring socks for the kiddos, or be prepared to purchase some there for a dollar. Kids older than 5 may be a little big for the play area, which is geared towards toddlers and younger children.

The play area, unfortunately, is not free, but costs a reasonable $12 for 2 hours of play time. This fee is applicable to each child.

You do not need a reservation to come in and enjoy the play area, but be prepared that if it is busy there may be ‘time slots’ for entering the playrooms.

No food or drink is allowed in the playrooms and kids must be supervised by their parents.

Overall

The staff is tremendously welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Accommodating and very cheerful, they instantly provide a comfortable space upon walking in. It’s the kind of place you simply want to stay awhile, just because the vibes are right.

Parents may enjoy a long lingering sit down with the high octane (and amazingly delicious) Vietnamese coffee, or browsing the local goods for sale in their little shop.

Kids will obviously want to jump into the colorful playroom as soon as possible. Exceeding expectations, the fun zone is pretty similar to some party venues I’ve been to that cost triple the price. That said – I found that the price for everything at Bash & Brew is quite reasonable.

A great addition to the neighborhood, I can see them being successful here for a long time. Welcome Bash & Brew!
